Welcome to Los Altos Hills / Los Altos
A luxurious neighborhood at the intersection of tech centers and country estates
Los Altos Hills is the heart of California’s “residential-agricultural” region. Of the 8,000 people who call the area home, most live in large, ranch-style estates built to exude luxury and emphasize a deep connection to nature. Residents in Los Altos Hills have access to an expansive 80-mile trail system where they can ride horses, enjoy a leisurely jog or walk, or pedal a bike to soak up the gorgeous countryside of California.
Homes in Los Altos Hills and the nearby Los Altos village are large and luxurious. With most growth in the area occurring since the 1950s (after World War II ended and people began looking for more luxurious homes), most homes are relatively modern, with expansive layouts and multiple rooms. Acreage is a crucial aspect of any home in Los Altos Hills, where the minimum lot size is one acre.

Residents enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of a more agricultural location, including spending time outdoors on ranch-like estates or exploring the miles of community pathways. Horse stables, chicken coops, and local deer are all familiar sights in the rolling hills of Los Altos. Los Altos Hills is a strictly residential community, containing only a bookstore and gift shop, though Los Altos hosts several lovely shops, traditional stores, and delicious restaurants.
